Structure of therapeutic program:
The therapy for children and families is family therapy,
in that we offer where appropriate:
Individual sessions for the child and the parent
Parent sessions to provide support and parenting
strategies
Family therapy sessions
The structure of the therapeutic programme is agreed
between therapist and parent(s) following an initial assessment. If
it is agreed between parents and therapist that therapy is appropriate,
then a contract is made in terms of duration of therapy, care-plan,
structure and desired outcomes.
Parents:
Therefore, it is advisable that each parent has a
commitment to be involved in the process. One can describe family therapy
in terms of the parents having to learn a new language and teach it
to the children. Research shows that a child learns about communication,
social cues and emotional literacy mostly from his/her parents.
